Education

Stroke: The Basics

Understanding stroke is important to its prevention and rapid treatment. The Stanford Stroke Center has pioneered major advances in medical therapies for treating and preventing stroke.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate a new medical approach, device, drug, or other treatment. As a Stanford Hospital & Clinics patient, you have access to the latest, advanced clinical trials.

Open trials refer to studies currently accepting participants. Closed trials are not currently enrolling, but may open in the future.

For Health Care Professionals

Our transport team is trained to use state-of-the-art monitoring and therapies to improve neurologic outcomes. Intense treatment begins even before arrival at Stanford. Critical care protocols are in place to optimize pre-hospital care and improve outcomes for patients with seizures, brain hemorrhage, cardiac arrest, stroke, and traumatic brain and spinal cord injury.
