Diagnostic Tests for Acute Myeloid Leukemia
After a complete medical history and physical examination is done, you may get diagnostic tests for acute myeloid leukemia that include:
- Blood tests
- Bone marrow biopsy
- Cytogenetic analysis, a lab test where blood or bone marrow is viewed under a microscope to look for certain changes in chromosomes of the white blood cells
- Immunophenotyping, a test in which blood or bone marrow cells are looked at under a microscope
- Lumbar puncture (spinal tap), which can check whether cancer has spread to the spine or the brain
