Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Egg Donation

How do I find an egg donor?

There are two types of egg donors: donors that are recruited and psychologically screened by an egg donor agency separate from our clinic; or a known donor, someone you know who is willing to donate egg(s) for you (i.e. a family member or friend). All donors must:

  • Be between the ages of 21 and 35, and preferably have a history of having achieved pregnancy.
  • Have a physical exam.
  • Pass screening for communicable diseases as required by the FDA.
  • Have infectious disease lab testing done.
  • Have a face to face psychological evaluation.
  • Have normal ovulation.
Is there a fee for an egg donor?

Payment to donors recruited by an outside agency is coordinated with the recipient and the recruiting agency. Reimbursement for a known donor is left up to the recipient. If you have infertility benefits under your plan, you may want to verify with your insurance if donors are covered.
