Health Needs Addressed: Food Security

Funding for this program supports the purchase and distribution of healthy proteins to food-insecure low-income residents of all ages through the organization’s ongoing free grocery distributions in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Redwood City. Because protein food items are more expensive, require refrigeration, and are easily perishable, Second Harvest must purchase most of the protein food items, which are then distributed to partner agencies and clients, free of cost.
