The Stanford Center for Female Urology and Neuro Urology provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment to patients with problems relating to the bladder and lower urinary tract. 

Urinary tract disorders are greatly under reported and under treated in our society. One of the main impediments to treatment is the embarrassment many patients feel in discussing these sensitive issues. Our staff is committed to preserving patient dignity and providing the highest quality care and comfort.

Care and Treatment

Treatments

All new patients undergo a detailed initial history and physical evaluation, after which an individualized treatment plan is developed that addresses all lower urinary tract/pelvic problems for each patient. This approach reduces the likelihood of treatment failure and complications. For some patients this might involve specialized bladder testing (Urodynamics) and x-rays, while others may be started on treatment without additional investigation.

Although many problems can be managed with simple measures, patients with more severe disease may benefit from trials of new medications, novel devices including nerve stimulation techniques, or surgery including:

Pelvic reconstruction surgery

Surgical options to treat complex pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence, overactive bladder syndromes, pelvic organ prolapse, voiding and defecatory dysfunction, fecal incontinence, fistulas, diverticula and vaginal agenesis.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate a new medical approach, device, drug, or other treatment. As a Stanford Health Care patient, you may have access to the latest, advanced clinical trials.

Open trials refer to studies currently accepting participants. Closed trials are not currently enrolling, but may open in the future.
