Stanford Hospital's Liver Transplant Program began in 1991 as part of the Multi-Organ Transplant Program. Since then, our team has performed more than 800 adult liver transplantations, consistently exceeding national patient and liver survival rates at the one- and three-year marks after transplantation.
This location serves the community in collaboration with Dignity Health Central Coast.

Clinical Trials
Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate a new medical approach, device, drug, or other treatment. As a Stanford Health Care patient, you may have access to the latest, advanced clinical trials.
Open trials refer to studies currently accepting participants. Closed trials are not currently enrolling, but may open in the future.
For Patients
Your doctor will request an evaluation by one of Stanford's transplant specialists, who will review your previous medical records and determine if additional tests are necessary. Patients undergoing initial evaluation, medical follow-up before transplant, and post-transplant follow-up, both early and late, are seen in the liver transplant clinic.
