The Sinus Center is part of Stanford Health Care Ear, Nose, and Throat, which ranks among the top ENT centers in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
We offer complete medical and surgical care for disorders of the nose and sinuses. Our team uses the most advanced therapies available. We focus on minimally invasive approaches and offer outpatient treatment alternatives to open surgery whenever possible.
Our highly skilled clinicians and researchers continuously work to advance nose and sinus care. We aim to understand and treat your condition as best as possible.
Watchful waiting, also called active surveillance, means we’ll keep a close eye on your sinus condition. Sometimes we don’t need to take immediate action. If your condition worsens or poses a risk to your health, then we discuss a treatment plan with you.
Medication can successfully treat many nose and sinus problems. Some medications, such as antibiotics, work to treat infection. Others, such as corticosteroids and decongestants, reduce swelling and inflammation in your nose. Your doctor may prescribe medications in the form of pills or liquids, such as nasal sprays and drops.
Medication can treat many sinus-related disorders, and we also offer a range of outpatient treatment options for common conditions. But you may still need additional treatment with sinus surgery.
Whenever possible, our surgeons offer minimally invasive procedures using endoscopic techniques. “Endoscopic” refers to the use of small cameras and tools during surgery. These techniques allow us to operate through your nostrils without the need for external incisions. The procedures also usually:
- Cause less pain
- Do not cause bruising or swelling
- Remove the need for nasal packing after surgery
Our skilled surgeons perform endoscopic sinus surgery to treat long-term sinus inflammation and infections (sinusitis). During this procedure, we carefully remove tissues that block your sinuses to allow for more natural drainage. Endoscopic sinus surgery can decrease the severity, frequency, and length of sinus infections.
Our team operates in a state-of-the-art outpatient suite using the latest technologies available, including computer-assisted surgery (CAS). CAS is a surgical navigation system that allows your surgeon to precisely plan and perform your sinus surgery. The system improves our accuracy and results, and reduces complications.
Your wellness plays a role in the success of your treatment. We offer a range of support services to assist you and your family throughout your sinus care. Whether it’s mental health counseling or help with your finances, we’re here for you whenever you need us.
Innovation Through Clinical Research
As a leading academic and research institution, we are always striving to find new techniques and apply the latest and best technology to your treatment. Specialists at Stanford Health Care ENT work with each other and with teams across the nation to spark groundbreaking research. We are committed to bringing you clinical trials that test new and better ways to diagnose, treat, and manage ENT conditions. Participating in a trial may give you access to the latest ENT therapies before they are widely available.
Clinical Trials
Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate a new medical approach, device, drug, or other treatment. As a Stanford Health Care patient, you may have access to the latest, advanced clinical trials.
Open trials refer to studies that are currently recruiting participants or that may recruit participants in the near future. Closed trials are not currently enrolling, but similar studies may open in the future.

- Patient Care Coordinator: Our patient care coordinators help you with scheduling appointments and accessing your lab results. They are your first line of contact before you see your provider and will guide you during your sinus care.
- Patient Access Representative: Patient access representatives can answer your questions about health insurance coverage, help you apply for health insurance, and refer you to our financial counselors.
