Dr. Ankur Bharija is the Medical Director of Inpatient Geriatrics programs at Stanford Hospital.

Dr. Bharija is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine with board certifications in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Medicine.

Dr. Bharija was an American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine “Inspiring Hospice and Palliative Medicine Leaders 40 under 40” awardee in 2015. He was chair of the External Awareness Committee of AAHPM working on public awareness and engagement initiatives from 2014-2016.

Dr. Bharija has been a speaker at academic and social platforms both at local and national levels, advocating for patient-centered and value-based healthcare.

Dr. Bharija's interests include promoting healthy aging for seniors in the community and quality of life for the frail elders and the seriously ill -- ensuring their safety, health, and happiness as they navigate the continuum of healthcare system (Home - Hospital - Postacute Care) -- empowering them through innovative solutions which are at the right intersection of 'hi-tech and hi-touch'. To that end, areas of current personal and professional focus for innovation are Healthcare delivery models, Value-Improvement work, Public health-education, Health Information-technology and Social entrepreneurship.
