Biography
Dr. Elizabeth Bailey is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at Stanford and serves as Program Director for the Stanford Dermatology Residency Program, Associate Clinic Chief of Medical Dermatology at Stanford Healthcare, and Director of Global Health Dermatology.
She has a passion for thinking about how we communicate and how we can leverage relationships to improve how we communicate and work as a team in an inclusive and supportive environment. She loves thinking about this in the context of developing relationships with patients to help them achieve the best possible outcomes and in the context of helping our clinical teams perform to the best of their abilities. She also enjoys discovering ways to teach and learn these skills at all stages of medical education. Her work has included a project using art to cultivate communication skills, research on curriculum needs and opportunities to integrate educational content related to sexual and gender minority and skin of color in dermatology residency education, and ongoing work on communication skills training in dermatology residency education.
Dr. Bailey graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and received her medical degree from Columbia University in New York, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and completed both her residency in dermatology and fellowship in dermatopathology at Stanford University Medical Center. She is board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology by the American Boards of Dermatology/Pathology.
Dr. Bailey's academic interests include medical education, community outreach, global health, and skin cancer detection and prevention.

Maybe I would have liked a little bit more explanations, but I found those afterwards in the notes of the visit online. The doctor also went over some cosmetics I had brought and gave me some helpful information on them.
All of the staff, led in particular by Dr. Bailey, were exceptionally professional, courteous, caring, and informative - in terms of discussing the problem as well as at each and every step of any testing or procedure. I cannot imagine how anyone could do better.
Dr. Bailey was efficient without hurrying, listened to and answered all my questions, gave me options for the issue, recommended time frame for ongoing care.

Although I went in fear and a lot of skepticism during my first visit, I was quite relaxed by the second visit since I saw the results of the treatment and improvement in my situation. Skin examination was done very fast compared to prior dermatologist experiences that took at least twice the time with pictures taken of specific areas for future reference.
Dr. Bailey is an excellent physician. She's warm and caring; her treatment plan was effective and clearly communicated. Not a clock watcher, she asked if there were other skin issues she could help me with. I will definitely recommend Dr. Bailey to others and seek her care should I need it in the future.
I am especially grateful that Dr. Bailey does not make any negative comments about the sorry state of my skin as I have recalcitrant cystic acne. I often come in wearing make-up because I cannot bare to be bare-faced in public and that doesn't seem to bother her. I just wish there was additional effective treatment for me. She also scheduled my normally 3 month appointments and labs to 6 months which I also appreciate.

It was my first visit and I came for a skin check. There was very little said before the exam and the doctor took a VERY quick look at my skin. I was out of the office within 6 minutes. I don't know if it was a good exam.

The doctor'd demeanor was very impersonal. She asked me if I have any diseases' which was an odd way of asking if I have any new breakouts. When I checked out at the lobby, she walked out to get coffee and didn't acknowledge me which I thought was odd, which is why I describe her as impersonal. Maybe she was having a bad day. I also had to ask the lobby to ask the nurse which descriptions in the Visit Summary printout pertained to which issue I discussed - the Summary was printed in medical terms which is not easy for patients to remember the terms the doctor used.
This was my first visit to this facility. From parking (on arrival), to leaving - everyone I encountered was helpful and friendly. I felt very good about the visit.

My test results should have been back to me in one day but the doctor only gave them to me after I had emailed and then phone her for results. 4 DAYS LATER.
Dr. Bailey seemed just a tiny bit scattered--but I am a complicated patient. I did manage to figure out all my instructions for where to get the labs, and what kind of dosing I would be on (high or low dose/long term), and later found out that I would be required to come in monthly. The nurse did a decent job of walking me through the 'I pledge' which has changed since I last took 'Accutane.' She had to call later to get the registration number off the information packet--but I don't mind that. I don't think she will forget next time. ;-) When I told her I had my whole exome sequenced, she mumbled something about a genetic multiple syndrome which might be related to my problem, but departed before I could inquire more. She seemed in a hurry--but I can understand if she didn't want to leave other patients waiting--especially as she normally practices in Palo Alto.
I kind of felt like she was in a hurry. She did everything right and I don't really have any complaints about the service she provided- it was just really quick and I think I would have liked her to sit down and ask me if I had any questions at the end or asking me questions about myself instead of standing the whole time. I also would have liked her to ask me if I wanted the mole/growth I came in to have examined removed or not just to open the discussion a bit
Dr. Bailey provides excellent care! She is methodical in her approach to skin checks and takes the time to provide education about skin cancer prevention. I felt reassured after having been in her care. Hands down, this was my best visit to the dermatologist. I would recommend her to any friends or family members!
