Biography
Meghan Dickman, M.D., is Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology and Medical Director of Dermatology at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley. Dr. Dickman earned her B.S., with distinction, from the University of Michigan in 2006. She received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. During medical school, Dr. Dickman was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her dermatology residency at Stanford University and served as Chief Resident in her final year. She is board certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. Her professional focus is general medical dermatology, including acne, psoriasis, skin cancer, and dermatologic surgery.
Dr. Dickman also serves as the Medical Director of Dermatology for Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley and the Director of the East Bay Clinical Network for Stanford Dermatology, leading the department of dermatology's program building efforts and clinical operations in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area.

I consider Dr Dickman an excellent doctor. 6months ago I was informed I did have 2 areas of skin cancer. I decided not to have Mohs done. Today, it seemed they were not sure why i was there. No biggie. Then i was told I needed to treat to head on face with a cream treatment. I guess in 6 months time everything got worse. A guess my question is, is my cancer getting worse quickly

I had 2 appts the same day and you fail to identify the specific appt each survey should pertain to so this survey here should be used re the dermatologist I saw.
The appt was very fast, but I didn't really have a lot to discuss
the Doctor didn't read the questionnaire I filled out in the waiting room. my appointment with the doctor lasted exactly 3,5 minutes even if I needed to have my numerous moles checked, and even if I had rash in 4 different areas of my body to show her. She gave me the names of the skin problems I had but didn't explain what it was and didn't pay attention to the fact that English is not my first language which makes it even harder to understand. It's the first time I am worried after my moles have been checked (I've had mole removal in the past and my moles need to be checked thoroughly every year), because there is no way any doctor can check moles on the entire body in less than two minutes. Some areas were not checked at all. I am very disappointed and won't come back to see this doctor.

The Dr. was in and out in under 10 minutes. She asked if I was protecting myself from the sun. I answered, truthfully, 'no'. She said at least you're honest. That's all. no advice, suggestions or recommendations. I was taken into the exam room early, seen right away, and she left very quickly. The exam was fairly through, I guess. She did answer all my questions.
She (provider) was v. professional, and friendly. She spoke w/knowledge & confidence.
This was a follow up appointment. The doctor focused on a particular skin treatment I had undertaken since my last visit, which was good. Then she asked if I had anything else to cover with her. I reminded her that she had frozen some spots on my scalp during the prior visit, which prompted her to look at them. I would have had more confidence in her if I had not had to ask. Also, she asked when I had my last full body skin check (which had been done by another Stanford doctor). I remembered that it was 10 months ago. She indicated I should schedule another one in 6 months, and also said having them annually was probably the right frequency. In July, it will have been 16 months since my last full body check, which was inconsistent. I am ok with this, but am noting the inconsistency. The doctor was friendly and encouraging, but I felt a little like I was being dispensed with quickly.

Only wish other Stanford care providers would be as efficient at Dr. Dickman and Sierra. Solved problem because the spent an extra couple of minutes discussing problem with me in detail. Problem is solved. Seems that when I go to Redwood City or Quarry Rd., this type of customer service is not present--Doctors and PA's are more interested in reducing time spent per patient than solving patients' problems. When Stanford Health Care learns to make the transition from a research institution to a health care provider they will be accepted by the public a lot more.
Dr. Dickman and the PA are both wonderful. Dr. Dickman listens patiently to any concerns and gives a thorough exam. Both of them answer all questions and provide excellent advice when needed.

I had a very good experience. The doctor was friendly, examined my skin - all over very quickly and answered my questions. She was through, but patient in explaining the necessity of using sunscreen (did not shame me) and was patient with my numerous questions re: the process of needing to "freeze" a concern on my left temple. She was clear about what to expect and I appreciated that!
The doctor was nice, but I felt a bit rushed. I'd asked for a skin exam but she didn't look at the front of my body, only the back. When we went through the diagnosis, she was a bit rushed, and the MyHealth follow up notes indicated that we'd talked about several things that we actually never discussed.
