Biography
Dr. Roy is a medical oncologist and a clinical assistant professor in the Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology. She has expertise in Lung and Thoracic cancers, but with a broad clinical interest in oncology, including in Carcinoma of Unknown Primary (CUP).
Dr. Roy became an oncologist because of her passion for patient care. She is committed to being a clinician and is focused on improving the patient experience, given how the complex process of getting cancer care can be made a bit more seamless. She is the Associate Medical Director for Quality at Stanford Cancer Center from 2022.
She had led major efforts in the cancer program including starting standardized discharge follow up for patients after hospitalization, starting same day clinical care at the cancer center, and also expediting care for patients with an unclear diagnosis of cancer but with suspected imaging concerns.
Her research interests include access to clinical trials, quality improvement and improving care delivery. In that effort, she has published on work regarding patient reported outcomes (PROs), through distress screening with the Stanford Medicine Cancer Center, and in care for patient with limited English proficiency.
Dr. Roy received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and then completed residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She then completed fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at Stanford, where she was chief fellow.

Dr Roy is a wonderful person & Doctor. Explanations were understandable & we felt her honesty & appreciated that. My husband who is the patient really likes her & so do my daughter & I (his wife). I’d recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Roy is a fantastic doctor. I see a lot of doctors and she listens, she is prepared, she trusts I know my own body so she's attentive when I explain what is happening with my body. She has a thoughtful plan for my care, but isn't against diviating if it makes sense. And she's ordered the tests necessary to evaluate how the medication is working.

What a difference in seeing a specialist from Stanford vs other specialist. I felt well listened to and taken care of. She broke down everything so I was able to understand. She asked me if I had any questions or like to provide additional information. She was very attentive which was a nice experience to actually experience for a change. Normally when doctor's find out I have fibromyalgia I feel abandoned and like oh well it's not serious you just have to deal with it type of attitude. Dr. Roy did an excellent presentation on lung cancer. She explored options that would be available to me. Dr. Roy asked for me to contact my doctor to order a MRI brain scan and ask about results of a test he had ordered.
She went over my medical records and asked questions needed for
clarification. We talked about surgery, radiation, chemo, immunotherapy, clinical trials. She was very upfront with what may or may not be available for me.
Dr. Roy answered all of our questions. She is going to present my PET scan to a tumor meeting and call me back with results.
We feel very comfortable talking to Dr. Roy and look forward to other
video conferences to make future plans for my treatment.
