Dr Schmidt is so awesome! I have a 36 yr old spinal injury. Over the past 3 years new problems have popped up. I requested scans and an appointment with the spine clinic. The Ortho Surgeon didn't listen to me and told me that nothing could be done to help.
Dr Schmidt listened carefully and asked questions if he needed clarification on something. He reviewed the same scans the other Dr saw. He found the problem within minutes and said there are absolutely things we can do for the pain. We now have a plan for relieving some of this pain.
Dr Schmidt is understanding and compassionate.

Good bedside manner, personally engaged, prepared(had read my chart and was familiar with my condition), technically outstanding, explained everything in layperson's terms, high marks for answers to my questions and was pro-active.
FYI, as a Black man in America I am sensitive to medical disparity in treatment. My Oncology doctors and the radiation techs have been great. In fact, in most cases, my visits at Stanford have been great.
However, my post-op overnight location after my prostate surgery and having a Urology doctor refuse to see me ever again after I was late for an appointment are things that make me go Hmmmmm????
Dr. Schmidt was just amazing. Nothing but Kudos.

Dr. Schmidt was very professional and interested in my well-being. He even checked to make sure that my medical insurance would cover the medication he was planning to prescribe. His instructions regarding my current use of Tylenol were clear as well as how to integrate the new medication into my regime and to follow up via e-mail giving him details about my pain levels after being on the new medication for 5 days.
