Biography
Dr. Whang is a board-certified general surgeon whose primary focus is minimally invasive surgery. Before joining Stanford Health Care, Dr. Whang worked in private practice for 18 years.
Her clinical experience includes training in laparoscopic ventral hernia surgery, laparoscopic urological surgery, and laparoscopic pediatric surgery taught by the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group. She is certified in Robotic Surgery. Her clinical interests include hernia surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and breast surgery.
Dr. Whang’s research interests include in-depth studies of laparoscopic surgical techniques and outcome quality measures. Dr. Whang has published articles on laparoscopic surgery in British Journal of Surgery and Annals of Surgery. She has presented to her peers on the causes and prevention of laparoscopic bile duct injuries, among other topics.
She completed her fellowship in laparoscopy at the University of California, San Francisco, and her residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. She holds a medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Whang is fluent in Korean.
