Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers: Online Plus Skills Check for Initial or Renewal/Update
The American Heart Association's (AHA) BLS-HCP is given in three parts:
- Part 1: The first part of this course is online and is accessible 24 hours a day. The course provides a flexible alternative to classroom training. Through case-based scenarios, interactive activities and videos, this course teaches the concepts of both single-rescuer and team life support. Part 1 takes about 1-2 hours to complete.
- Parts 2 and 3: Part 1 must be paired with a hands-on skills practice and testing session (parts 2 and 3) with an AHA BLS Instructor. Skills practice and testing with a manikin will take approximately 1 hour and will be held at the Life Support Training Center (LSTC) unless otherwise noted.
An AHA BLS-HCP course completion card is issued upon successful completion of all three parts.
