Optimizing Quality of Life in Serious Illness

This lecture will address the why, when, and how regarding the involvement of palliative care concepts in patient care with the primary purpose of dispelling common myths often discouraging people from utilizing these beneficial services.  Patient empowerment and overall well-being will be a key focus per review of the highly-personalized and holistic approach fundamental to these interdisciplinary specialist teams - where every aspect of the impact of serious illness is considered and supported (physical, psychological, spiritual and social).
