Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) and other vascular access devices (VADs) are being placed for all types of short term, intermediate length and long-term intravenous (IV) therapy.
The successful delivery of IV therapy depends on the nurse’s understanding of how to use and care for them, as well as how to prevent or problem solve catheter-related complications.
This course will provide the necessary background information regarding venous anatomy, VAD maintenance care, complication management, and PICC removal.
