The Medical Transport Program
The Medical Transport Program (MTP) at Stanford is a partner to the Life Flight helicopter program. This team of two RNs (registered nurses) is educated and trained to transport critically ill or injured patients by ground ambulence.
Patients transported are primarily acutely ill adults who need specialty services provided by Stanford Health Care. Some of these patients need the support of ventilators, medicines and infusions, intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, and other high-tech devices to ensure that they are transported safely.
The MTP nurses follow the same protocols and utilize the same skills as the flight team.
