Wound and Ostomy nurses conduct weekly group patient education classes designed to introduce gastro-intestinal and urology patients and their families to ostomy care and management; including what to expect before and after surgery and when to seek medical assistance. The group process model allows for discussion of potential lifestyle changes with others who are similarly situated. It helps patients and at-home caregivers better manage this medical condition and its accompanying lifestyle changes.
