The Stanford Facial Pain Program offers an interdisciplinary approach to evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating the various disorders that can cause chronic pain in the face, mouth and head.
Our team of physicians, dentists, psychologists, and physical therapists work together to develop a complete, comprehensive, individualized treatment program. This tailored program focuses on medical management, procedural interventions and lifestyle changes to provide maximum pain relief and help sufferers cope with the debilitating effects of chronic facial pain.
Your first visit with us consists of an intake evaluation with our pain team, which includes pain doctors, such as neurologists, dentists, and anesthesiologists, as well as pain psychologists and physical therapists. Our team will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the origin of your pain. Once we have a diagnosis, we will refer you to the most appropriate specialist, who will work with you to develop a treatment plan tailored to your diagnosis, using the most advanced therapies available.
You may be referred to either neurosurgery, otorlaryngology, or plastic and reconstructive surgery, if deemed appropriate. If you or your doctor request a consult with a specific doctor, we will make every effort to secure an appointment with him or her.
