What Does the Specialty Pharmacy Do?
The Stanford Health Care Pharmacy provides patients with convenient access to specialty medications and improving outcomes. Located within the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Palo Alto, the pharmacy offers medication support for Stanford Health Care patients dealing with complex conditions to include but not limited to: Hepatitis B/C, Oncology, Hematology, Neurology and more.
The pharmacy will continue to add specialty medications for additional cancer conditions through the rest of the year.

Specialty Pharmacy Patient Management Program
The specialty pharmacist offers the expertise you need to better understand your medication regimen and what to expect from the medication. Working closely with the Stanford Health Care Cancer Center, our staff can handle the most complex situations, help patients with any drug-drug interactions and provide guidance on medication management.
The pharmacy also stocks commonly prescribed medications and over-the-counter medications.

In keeping with Stanford Health Care policy, the pharmacy is a no-cash location so purchases can be made with credit/debit card or check.
Stanford Health Care Pharmacy offers medication support to ensure quicker access to your specialty medication. We complete monthly assessments to track if you are taking your medication correctly and to help manage any side effects. We ensure cost is not a barrier to accessing medication and facilitate your care with your provider.
The pharmacy also stocks commonly prescribed medications and a host of over-the-counter medications/supplies.
The inpatient pharmacy will continue to service the needs of all hospitalized patients.
All outpatients can conveniently pick up their medications from the pharmacy or inquire of potential alternative methods of ensuring access to medication if needed.
Please contact the Stanford Health Care Specialty Pharmacy to initiate a request to transfer your prescription from your current pharmacy.
You can leave a message for the pharmacy or request refills using the automated phone system 24/7. For other inquiries, after-hours access to clinical staff is available. For assistance, call 650-736-3800.
To refill a prescription with no refills remaining, please contact your prescriber via MyHealth or phone call to send a prescription renewal to the pharmacy. You can also request existing refills for ongoing medications through the automated phone system. If enrolled in the optional Medication Management Program, the pharmacy will contact you each month to remind you of refills that are due and review your medication profile.
Yes. The pharmacy works with insurance plans to review coverage and request prior authorizations for specialty medications. Additionally, we automatically apply available manufacturer discounts on eligible specialty medications. We also offer financial assistance for patients who need it.
Yes. First-time patients to the pharmacy receive a ‘Welcome Bag[1]’ that includes important information about the pharmacy and how to use our services. Additionally, patients receive an in-depth consultation with our pharmacist to review their medications and discuss strategies to simplify their regimens and improve adherence.
