Stanford provides specialized care to over 2,500 trauma patients per year. We receive patients from many outlying counties in addition to interfacility transports of patients who need Stanford's expertise. Patients are transported directly to our facility by paramedics and flight crews, such as Stanford's Life Flight.
Working with community partners allows us to use the expertise and affiliations of many in order to better meet our goals of reducing injuries and deaths.
Our partners include the Roadway Safety Solutions Team (RSST)—lead by Stanford Health Care Trauma and the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition. This group works to reduce bicycle-related injuries and deaths.
Our community partners include:
California Highway Patrol (CHP)
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
Engineers from the County of San Mateo, Redwood City, Palo Alto, and others
Bicycle safety advocates and leaders of bicycle teams
Stanford University Government and Community Relations, and Parking and Transportation departments
Traffic Safety Communities Network of Santa Clara County – Full Network, Alcohol and Impaired Driving Workgroup, Data Workgroup, and Safe Routes to School
