Causes and Risk Factors
A risk factor is anything that increases your risk of getting a disease. Risk factors for AML include:
- Smoking
- Older age
- Male gender
- Previous exposure to radiation or chemotherapy
- Exposure to toxic chemicals like benzene (found in gasoline)
