Signs and symptoms of potential complications
Your surgical care team takes extra precautions to provide a safe experience with minimal risk of complications. Watch for these symptoms during the first few weeks of your recovery at home.
Infection
Please call us right away at 650-498-6004 (24-hour nursing line) if you have any of these signs or symptoms after surgery:
- Fever of 100.3oF or higher
- Persistent nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Pain that isn’t controlled by your medications
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Heavy vaginal bleeding
- Problems at the incision site, such as excessive or increasing pain, redness, swelling, bruising, bleeding, separation of the skin, drainage, or pus
- Swelling, warmth, and redness in one leg, which could be symptoms of a blood clot or other circulatory problem
- Excessive swelling in both legs (slight swelling is normal and can be relieved by elevating your legs or wearing support stockings)
