Why Choose Stanford Health Care?
Menopause Care at Stanford Health Care
Perimenopause and menopause can introduce new challenges, and we’re at your side with comprehensive care. The Stanford Health Care Program in Menopause & Healthy Aging delivers expert guidance and extensive resources to assist you with every facet of aging—physical, emotional, and social.
While menopause symptoms can be challenging, many postmenopausal women (those who haven’t had a period in over 12 months) experience “menopausal zest.” They report a sense of stability and self-fulfillment. They enjoy improved satisfaction with work, family life, partner relationships, friendships, and physical health. You can rely on our team to support you at every step of your menopause journey.
Each person’s experience with menopause is unique, so we provide you with individualized care. Our doctors, nurses, technicians, and staff are here to support you throughout your journey with treatment plans tailored to your needs.
Your Doctors
Gynecologists specialize in caring for women’s reproductive health from their first period through post-menopause. Our board-certified gynecologists care for all conditions related to the female reproductive system, including the breasts, cervix, fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, and vagina.
Our skilled physician assistants and nurse practitioners specialize in diagnosing and treating women’s health conditions. They see patients independently and occasionally alongside your provider. Advanced practice providers can give you a thorough exam, write prescriptions, and help prevent or treat issues.
Your Extended Care Team
These doctors diagnose and treat heart and blood vessel diseases that may develop due to declining estrogen levels. After a physical exam and specialized tests, they work with your care team to develop your overall treatment plan and oversee your care. Learn about our Women’s Heart Health Program.
Endocrinologists are medical doctors who treat hormone-related conditions, including osteoporosis.
Urogynecologists are doctors who specialize in helping people with pelvic floor and bladder disorders like urinary incontinence.
Physical therapists are experts in assessing the neuromusculoskeletal system, which includes the pelvis. Pelvic floor physical therapists specialize in treating disorders of the pelvic floor muscles, joints, nerves, and organs to help improve function and quality of life.
Mental health specialists (psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and counselors) use a variety of talk therapies to help people understand and manage their feelings. Our mental health professionals are specially trained to help with life transitions such as menopause.
Nurses, patient care coordinators, patient access representatives, and medical assistants coordinate your care with your medical team. They guide you from your first contact through follow-up care to help you find counseling, financial, and other support services.
Registered dietitians work closely with you and your family to help you meet your nutritional needs for heart health and weight management. Our dietitians help you learn about a nutritious diet to maintain lifelong health.
Stanford Medicine doctors participate in research efforts to advance the understanding of menopause and its treatment. Research coordinators help screen candidates for participation in clinical research trials.
