Chamomile Lemonade with Green Apple
Cancer fighting properties:
Citrus is a great source of Vitamin C, an antioxidant, which has been shown to help our immune system, as well as enhance iron absorption. There have a number of beneficial phytochemicals (limonene, many flavanones and carotenes) which can promote cell death in cancer cells and stop the division of some cancer cells. Citrus has been shown to be not only anti-inflammatory, but also anti-microbial.
There are so many ways of incorporating citrus in the kitchen, whether you choose to use a variety of lemons, oranges, grapefruit, limes or kumqhats. Try this chamomile lemonade to get boost your citrus intake!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 2 hours for chilling
Storage: Store in airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days
1 cup = 35 Calories, 0g Fat, 10g Carbohydrates, 0g Protein, 2g Fiber, 7mg Sodium
Ingredients:
4 chamomile tea bags
4 ½ cups boiling water
2 green apples, finely grated
¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 teaspoons Grade B maple syrup
Cooking Directions:
- Put the teabags in a heatproof container. Pour in the boiling water and let steep for 4 minutes.
- Remove the tea bags, then stir in the apples, lemon juice and maple syrup. Chill for at least 2 hours.
- Strain through a fine-mesh sieve before serving.
