Adriana Pedrazas walked into JobTrain uncertain of her path, but her story quickly transformed into one of resilience and hope. Starting her career at Target, she celebrated her first paycheck with her family, but life took a turn when she discovered she was pregnant. Determined to create a better life for her child, Adriana found her calling in medical assisting at JobTrain, where she gained valuable skills and confidence. With the support of her instructor, she secured an externship at Stanford Health Care, leading to a rapid career advancement from medical assisting to her current role as an Interventional Platform Scheduler II. Today, Adriana thrives, owning a home and mentoring others, proving that opportunity and determination can change lives.

The Jobtrain Externship partnership began with an inquiry by a member of Stanford Health Care while touring JobTrain’s training facility in 2015. Meetings quickly followed where staff from both organizations planned for JobTrain’s Medical Assistant graduates to participate in a 4-week externship at a designated Stanford Health Care medical facility. The first JobTrain Medical Assistant cohort to be placed at Stanford Health Care was the class that completed in June 2016. Adriana was part of the second cohort. Since its inception, 17 cohorts of medical assistant trainees have been placed at Stanford Health Care.
