Epilepsy is an electrical storm in the brain that is characterized by seizures. More than 200,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with epilepsy every year, about 1 out of every 100. Robert Fisher, MD, PhD, Director of Stanford Hospital's Epilepsy Center, explains the different kinds of seizures that present in cases of epilepsy, as well as factors contributing to the condition and current treatments available.
