Frank Longo, MD, PhD: Why I Went into Medicine
01.25.2016
Neurologist Frank Longo, MD, PhD, was still a child when his mother, a nurse, told him his sister’s brain damage wasn't fixable. "That never left me," he said. "I kept coming back to wanting to create something that would fix a brain," Longo said. Now, he has turned to one of neurology’s most difficult challenges: Alzheimer’s disease. Chair of the Stanford Health Care Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences, Longo is developing and testing therapies to treat Alzheimer’s, a brain disease that is considered incurable. In this video, Longo shares details of his personal story, his research, and his ambitions for his patients.
