With the longest history (23 years) on the Alameda Family Physicians team, John Carper, MD, considers his career a “natural meshing” of his love for science and people. He remembers the moment he knew he wanted to become a Family Practitioner when he shadowed two family doctors in medical school and saw the breadth of what they did.
He was drawn to the idea that family practice wouldn't narrow his focus to a single aspect of medicine, and that it would give him the ability to have patients of every age.
Today Dr. Carper is grateful that he’s able to know people over time. “Some of the people I delivered at the beginning of my practice are now young adults.”
