Cataract Risk Factors
Cataract Risk Factors
Certain factors can increase the risk of developing a cataract:
- Aging
- Diabetes (cataracts can form earlier if you have diabetes)
- Family history of cataracts at a young age
- Years of excessive exposure to the sun and UV rays
- Smoking
- Obesity
- High blood pressure
- Past eye injury or inflammation
- Previous eye surgery
- Steroid medication use
