Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is preventive cardiology the Lipid Clinic at Stanford?

Although that was never the official name, some people referred to the Preventive Cardiology Clinic as the Lipid Clinic. There is not a separate Lipid Clinic at Stanford and most patients referred to Stanford for cholesterol problems are seen in the Preventive Cardiology Clinic.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Depending on your insurance coverage, most often the services are covered if you have a medical diagnoses such as abnormal cholesterol or high blood pressure, it is always best to check with your insurance company first.

What are some alternative therapies?

Lifestyle interventions are the cornerstone of our therapeutic approach. You may also be eligible for ongoing research studies at the Stanford Prevention Research Center (SPRC).
