2025 Vizient Quality and Accountability
For the third time, Stanford Health Care was a five-star performer in the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study for comprehensive academic medical centers, ranking fifth out of 118 peer institutions for inpatient care.
2025 Magnet Designation
Stanford Health Care nurses have been honored for the fifth time with a Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center — a feat achieved by only 1.6% of hospitals nationwide — and also received Magnet with Distinction status, the highest honor given by the ANCC to the highest-performing organizations around the world.

Joint Commission
Gold Seal of Approval in recognition of our quality and safe care. Plus the first hospital in the U.S. certified a Comprehensive Stroke Center by the Joint Commission—recognition that we have the state-of-the-art equipment, infrastructure, staffing, and training necessary to diagnose and treat patients with the most complex strokes. Re-awarded a Certificate of Distinction by The Joint Commission for our Cardiac Ventricular Assist Device program.
Level 1 Trauma
The only Level 1 Trauma Center between San Francisco and San Jose—recognized by the American College of Surgeons for our Emergency Department’s ability to treat the most severe and complex cases.
2025 Joy in Medicine Health System Recognition Program
Stanford Medicine has received gold-level recognition from the American Medical Association for prioritizing reducing burnout and enhancing the professional fulfillment of doctors that comes from patient care. Since the program’s creation in 2019, Stanford Medicine is the only organization to have achieved gold-level recognition in four consecutive award cycles (2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025)
