Responding to Reversal of Protections for Transgender Individuals
In response to the new federal rule issued on June 12, which reverses protections and obstructs health care access for transgender and other sexual and gender minority people—Stanford Medicine affirms its support of our LGBTQ+ community.
We flatly reject policies that permit discrimination against individuals based on their gender identity, sexual orientation, or sex assigned at birth. We are proud that Stanford Medicine is home to The PRIDE Study, the LGBTQ+ Health Program, and the Pediatric and Adolescent Gender Clinic, which advance equitable access to quality care—recognizing the importance of race and ethnicity as part of these efforts. We will closely watch the final rule and assess its impacts to ensure our patients have continuity of care.
