29th Annual Trauma Critical Care Symposium

Santa Clara County’s Level 1 Trauma Centers and Pediatric Trauma Centers — Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and Stanford Health Care — are jointly hosting a 1.5-day trauma and critical care symposium.

Topics will include transport of the penetrating patient, procs and cons of REBOA, patterns in global trauma surgery, humanitarian trauma care in conflict zones, the role of the medical examiner in trauma patients, pediatric window falls, fragile and geriatric trauma, approaches to the open abdomen, TAX and other blood products, how to use TEG, DVT prophylaxis in trauma and SICU patients, orthopaedic evaluation of complex injuries, and a case study of how Princess Diana could have been treated had she experienced the car crash that killed her in the present day. The symposium will be taught through didactic lecture, panel discussions, audiovisual aids, and live simulated performance.

The program is intended for physicians, registered nurses, advanced practice providers, and any other clinical provider interested in the assessment, management, and treatment strategies of the critically ill and injured patient.

Each agenda topic is available for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™, for a max of 10 CME credits. RN CEUs (10 continuing education hours) are also available. Education credits are sponsored by the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
