Sister Obse Lubo, BSN, RN, Clinical Nurse II, Float Pool, Stanford Nominee for Magnet Nurse of the Year 2024
Obse Lubo is a compassionate and dedicated Float Pool clinical nurse who fearlessly advocated for the underserved communities in her hometown in Ethiopia since 2009.
Sister Obse, as she is fondly called, embodies Structural Empowerment on global health humanitarian work, aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal #3 Good Health and Well-Being, Ensure Healthy Lives and Promote Well-being for all at all ages.
Obse collaborated with local and international Rotary Clubs leading to the Breathing for Life Project, supplying oxygen to 26 different hospitals in Ethiopia.
Watson's Caring Science theory guides Stanford Health Care (SHC) nursing practice as a discipline and profession and serves as a transdisciplinary theoretical framework.
A deeper infusion of the theory and core concepts, such as the Ten Caritas Processes®, leads to greater adoption and spread across administrative, operational, and clinical areas.
As a distinguished Watson Caring Science affiliate hospital, SHC continues intentionally weaving Caring Science integration into the fabric of our organization and strategic priorities through four key domains to create and sustain a culture of caring.
The key domains include:
- Leadership and Legacy
- Praxis (theory-guided practice)
- Education
- Research and Inquiry
Center for Evidence- Based Practice & Implementation Science
The goal of the Center for Evidence Based Practice and Implementation Science is to promote excellence in clinical practice by providing structures, tools and processes that encourage clinical inquiry, practice evaluation, identification of gaps, and implementation of the best evidence available.
One of the interactive programs that support the Center for Evidence Based Practice and Implementation Science goals is the S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Fellowship.
This fellowship is a 12-month mentored experience for clinical nurses who are interested in evidence-based practice (EBP) and want to implement a project in their clinical area.
