Stanford Hospital named among top ten for cardiology and heart surgery

The U.S. News & World Report ranks Stanford Health Care among the top ten in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery.
In a recent news release, Stanford Health Care was ranked among the top ten hospitals in the nation by the U.S. News & World Report for cardiology and heart surgery, according to the 2022-2023 Best Hospitals rankings.
"We are honored to receive this recognition as being among the best-performing hospitals nationwide for our clinical excellence and expertise in heart surgery," said Joseph Woo, MD, the Norman E. Shumway Professor and Chair of the Stanford Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
"This achievement affirms our team’s continued commitment to serving our patients and their providers in the best way possible."

The U.S. News & World Report rating for cardiology and heart surgery is based on an analysis of various data categories, including patient outcomes in the medical and surgical treatment of cardiovascular disease, the volume of high-risk patients, patient experience, nurse staffing, public transparency, and advanced clinical technologies.
The hospital earned "high performing" ratings for the following procedures and conditions in cardiology and heart surgery:
- Aortic valve surgery
- Heart bypass surgery
- Heart failure
- Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
- Heart attack
The rankings aim to help patients and their referring doctors identify the nation's best surgeons and hospitals for care in cardiology and heart surgery. Stanford was named the best in Northern California for cardiology and heart surgery.
