Biography
Dr. Larsen is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology, Division of Autonomic Disorders. He is a board-certified neurologist and a fellowship-trained specialist in neurophysiology and autonomics. He completed medical school at the University of Utah and neurology residency and fellowship at Stanford.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Larsen focuses on disorders of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). His research interest is in the long-term autonomic complications of COVID-19. He is the principal investigator of a study looking at post-COVID postural tachycardia syndrome.
Dr. Larsen’s research interests also include Global Health Neurology. Dr. Larsen helped establish the first stroke unit in Rwanda and is part of the American Academy of Neurology’s Refugees & Asylum Seekers Working Group.
He has co-authored articles for publication in Clinical Autonomic Research, Autonomic Neuroscience, Nature Climate Change, and elsewhere. He is a recipient of the American Academy of Neurology Medical Student Prize for Excellence as well as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

He is by far one of the best physicians I have met during my journey with chronic illness and I can absolutely say that his treatment plan has very positively affected my quality of life.

Dr. Larsen is a caring, thorough and thoughtful clinician. Any patient would be lucky to have him as their doctor, especially for a tough condition like POTS.
Dr. Larsen is a good listener and communicator. I never felt rushed and he made sure all my questions were answered. He also conveyed that should I need assistance, or symptoms recur, that he would work me into his schedule. Knowing available appointments are scarce, it was reassuring when Dr. Larsen encouraged reaching out to him. I have been pleased with the thoroughness of the assessments, even though there is no standard form of treatment. Scary things have been ruled out and that is reassuring. I appreciate the care and advice.
He seemed very nice but a video visit makes communication really difficult when the appointment is mostly speaking with a fellow that works for him instead of with him. I would have liked to know ahead of time that I would be seeing an assistant for the majority of the appointment.
I’m so sorry to hear he was sick and really appreciated being able to still “see†him but the constraints of a video visit made the appointment not very productive and I am unsure that my insurance will even approve another one or the recommended testing.
The most time that a doctor has ever spent with me in my whole adult life! Dr. Larsen was very detail-oriented and patient.Not to mention: he was on time. I waited 30 seconds in the waiting room after Louie took my vitals and Dr Larsen saw me right after! Wow!

Dr. Larson is being very thorough and helpful through this journey.
My doctor was extremely thorough and knowledgeable about MCAS and Long COVID (my existing conditions) and how they influence and interact with the autonomic dysfunction he is helping me look into. I really appreciated all of the great info he gave me, and feel so supported with all of the next steps he advised me on. I am really confident he will help me figure out what’s wrong and help me with treatment options. Such a great appointment, I wish all my Dr appointments were like this.
