Biography

Dr. Megwalu was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, but spent most of his childhood in Nigeria. He received his undergraduate degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Megwalu received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine, completed his residency at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and received his MPH degree from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. After residency, Dr. Megwalu joined the faculty at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he served as Director of Otolaryngology at Queens Hospital Center, and Assistant Regional Director of Otolaryngology for Queens Health Network from 2011 to 2015.
Dr. Megwalu Joined the Division of Comprehensive Otolaryngology at Stanford in 2016. His clinical interests include thyroid and parathyroid disorders, head and neck tumors, sinusitis, and chronic ear disorders. Dr. Megwalu conducts outcomes/health services research, with a focus on health literacy, health disparities, and comparative effectiveness research.

at first I didn't see the doctor himself but his assistant. I wasn't told that I wouldn't see him at all. But there was something going on with my stitches so he came in after all. I don't mind seeing an assistant because stanford is a teaching hospital but I did mind that I wasn't informed I wouldn't see him at all. and that only he could use anesthetics while removing the stitches. without the anesthetics it was just way too painful to remove these.

I have been to Stanford Hospital many many times. this was the first time I saw this Dr. he didn't seem to take my concerns to serious. my symptoms are worse some days more then others, unfortunately I was feeling very good and almost cancelled. I had just been treated for cancer in a lymph node and felt my swelling could have been caused by my radioactive iodine treatment. during my scan they saw a spot in the X-ray and said it could be dental infection.. i had my teeth recently checked by my dentist and no infection.I had a pain in my upper cheek and was hoping to get an X-ray. instead I was offered to sign up with pain therapy. not at all what I felt I needed. other then that I really like Stanford Hospital and the Drs there. I drive 4 hours to see my Dr, Dr. Dousio for my Thyroid. she's the best! after Thyroid cancer and removal 7 years ago and 2 cancer recurrences and 2 skin cancers in the 7 years is why I wanted the X-ray, just to be sure. well sorry so long... but you did ask. have a good day.
