Biography
Kimberly Stone, MD is a board certified General Surgeon who specializes in breast surgical oncology and melanoma surgery. She treats all conditions related to breast health including: breast cancer, high risk prevention and screening, benign breast disease, and conditions related to lactation.
Dr. Stone completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at UCSF, where she trained in all aspects of breast surgical oncology, and melanoma surgery. Dr Stone performs all types of breast surgery including total skin and nipple sparing mastectomy, wireless lumpectomy, benign breast disease excisions and axillary surgery. She works closely with plastic and reconstructive surgeons to offer women the best possible cosmetic options and results following treatment. Dr Stone performs melanoma surgery including wide local excision, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and lymph node dissections for melanoma.
Dr. Stone strives to deliver compassionate, patient-centered surgical care that is expert and evidence-based while at the same time customized to the unique needs of each patient. She believes that patient empowerment and education are at the heart of an excellent care team.

I appreciate that she was able to squeeze me in to her busy schedule on short notice and that she took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. I have always had a great experience with all providers and care team at Stanford. But I did not share the same experience with Dr. Stone. I was diagnosed with re occuring break cancer, in office skin biopsy of the nipple came back with Paget disease. Presence of Paget is an indication of invasive cancer. I asked her 3 times prior to my mastactomy to check my lymph nodes. She declined to do so which resulted in me going through another surgery due to finding invasive cancer under the nipple. During the visits, she never answered my question about my pathology results by saying "these just mean breast" you don't need to worry about knowing HER2 + / other markers.

Dr Stone and Dr Laban and their entire teams (Gloria and Elham as well as the rest of the team) are just amazing. Dr Stone and Dr Laban are of course brilliant but they are also kind, caring, thorough, a real joy to meet them which says it all especially when dealing with cancer there is so much emotions and questions to deal with yet they make this process as easy as they can, and I feel they are right beside me every step of the way.
