Biography
Dr Sanislo has over 20 years of experience in clinical and surgical practice in retinal and vitreoretinal diseases. He is the senior vitreoretinal surgeon at Stanford and maintains a large clinical practice as well as teaching ophthalmology residents and retina fellows. He also participates in clincal reasearch for varying retinal conditions. Dr. Sanislo recieved ophthalmology training as a resident here at Stanford, and recieved vitreoretinal training as a fellow at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Research interests include treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal diseases.

Not at all happy with my followup visits after surgery. I wait for months to get detaisl on how receovery is happening and what should I expect for immediate and long term. I wait for hour to see doctor. What I get is 5 minute visit where doc is always in rush and nothing useful shared unless I ask question. Infact I feel uncomfortable asking questions as it's like as if I am holding back doctor or asking not impoetant question. This is my eye and I don't get the feeling that doc care much.

I'm so glad I made the change to Stanford versus having the procedure at Sutter in Sacramento. I am currently a patient of Stanford ( last 14 years) and Dr. Sanislo is a great surgeon and I felt confident going in for what I felt was a scary procedure.
Follow-up points on post-op vision, reading glasses not clear and not very helpful. Would have liked to discuss a little more, experience, etc. Technically operation on left eye seems excellent.

I have already recommended Dr. Sanislo & she was thrilled with him. I would NOT have another doctor.
I felt that the provider rushed through the appointment when I finally met with him after all of the preliminary eye test for my diabetes. I felt that he was not listening to me when I was informing him of my historic test related. to my diabetes and felt cut off everytime. His nurse was awesome and seemed more engaged than the provider. it was my first time in this clinic and first time with Stanford.
Dr. Sanislo is excellent. Responsive, caring with good follow-up.

Strong on surgery; a bit weak in inter-personal
Dr. Sanislo is GREAT!
There were two doctors in the exam room, one being a fellow. They discussed issues between themselves without including me in the discussion. I had to ask for an explanation. I was also advised to take an over-the-counter vitamin and the name and dosage was not written down and given to me. It was only given orally.

Dr. Sanislo is very concerned about my worries for my condition and liver and all the explanation for medications and follow up and I have confidence in him.
Dr. Sanislo and his staff have improved my quality box life by performing operations on my cataracts and have kept me seeing longer through ocular injections for at least five years. I am truly grateful.
Both Dr. Sanislo, and Fellow, Dr Margaret Greven are very professional, thorough, and friendly, in examining my eyes. They both took great care to find out if there was any immediate emergency of my health. Thank them for their time and care provided to me.
I was able to book a same day appointment with my care provider because I had an urgent problem.

As stated before, I had a great experience. I was treated by true professionals and I have confidence in the whole process. I might add that being seen on time is a welcome change to what I had grown accustomed to receiving.
Felt left out of the discussions going on between the medical staff. I was confused about prescriptions, next steps.
Dr. Sanislo is a world class surgeon and I have absolute confidence in him. My eyes are in excellent health because of his expertise and care and that of his team. He has gone out of his way to schedule me in for surgeries and exams when he had little time and I am very grateful for this. One recommendation for improvement...He has let me know that I am sometimes too concerned and call his office more than I may need to. As I have had significant issues with my eyes, I am unable to quell concerns on my own and need to ask questions when issues arise. I would feel better if I had his support when I feel I need to visit his team. It would make for a less anxious experience.

The provider was excellent, and showed genuine care for me.
Was rushed for time. I felt I had to interrupt to ask a question. Recommendation of intern and professor did not agree and I had no chance to discuss this. Overall I have confidence, but I wonder if there would be a rush in the OP, also?

Dr. Sanislo's exam rooms are set up so that his back faces me when he uses the computer. In other offices the rooms are set up so the physician can face the patient while using the computer. This enables the physician to interact with the patient while entering data.
He took time to help us find a retinologist when we move later this month.
I feel Dr. Sanisio is a friend and a concerned, caring doctor.
