TEST: LABCOV2IGG, LABCOV2IGM
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Please read before sending samples for SARS-CoV-2
LAB INTAKE FORM must be completed if your facility has not previously submitted COVID-19 testing to Stanford.
This guidance covers testing performed at the Stanford Clinical Lab for Blood Serology SARS-CoV-2 Antibody IgG and IgM and is only intended for FACILITIES OUTSIDE OF STANFORD (including UHA).
SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS
Specimen
- Blood Plasma
- Mint-top tube (lithium heparin, gel or no-gel tube)
Volume
- 1 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) plasma
Blood Collection Guidelines
- Plasma must be centrifuged within 6 hours of collection. Specimen is stable at 2-8°C for up to 3 days.
- If sending whole blood, refrigerated (2-8°C ) samples must be received within 3 hours of collection.
HANDLING AND TRANSPORT INSTRUCTIONS
Specimen Handling
- Specimen must be kept at 2-8°C
- Specimen must be labeled with two patient identifiers
- Complete requisition: COVID-19 Requisition Form
- Form and specimen must be placed in a biohazard bag
Specimen Drop-off Location
- Stanford Health Care Clinical Laboratories
3375 Hillview Avenue
Palo Alto, CA 94304 - Hours: 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
- Sample(s) must be hand delivered to Front Desk Security. No patient specimen drop-offs are allowed.
RESULTS & REPORTING
- All positive SARS-CoV-2 IgG results will include a reflex test called SARS-CoV-2 ACE2 Blocking Antibody.
- Negative and positive result reports will be sent to Report Fax Number on requisition.
- Report results to patient according to your organization's policy.
- Please provide a copy of Stanford Health Care Antibody Results Guidance to every patient.
