Treatment for Knee Problems and Injuries

Specific treatment for knee problems and injuries will be determined by your physician based on:

  • Your age, overall health, and medical history
  • Extent of the disease, injury, or condition
  • Your tolerance for specific medications, procedures, or therapies
  • Expectations for the course of the disease, injury, or condition
  • Your opinion or preference

If initial treatment methods do not provide relief, and X-rays show destruction of the joint, the orthopaedist may recommend total joint replacement for the knee.
