What are Sun Spots?

Types of Sun Spots

Sun spots may be called liver spots (although they have nothing to do with your liver).

They are usually harmless, but your doctor should check any spot that grows quickly or changes color. Other conditions similar to sun spots include:

  • Freckles
  • Birthmarks
  • Melasma (discoloration of skin on the face that is more common in women, especially during pregnancy)
