Complications - Advanced Colonoscopy
Complications Associated with Screening Colonoscopy
As with any procedure, it is possible for complications to happen. Although they are very uncommon, possible complications associated with advanced colonoscopy include:
- Bleeding from the site where we take tissue samples (biopsies) or remove colon polyps
- Puncture (perforation) in your colon or rectum
- Worsening symptoms, such as hemorrhoids, chronic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, or diverticulosis, caused by frequent bowel movements from the colonoscopy prep process
