Conditions Treated with Arthroscopy
Conditions We Treat with Arthroscopy
We primarily use arthroscopy to diagnose and treat joint problems. Sometimes, during a diagnostic arthroscopy procedure, we are able to perform the corrective repair at the same time.
Conditions we diagnose and treat using arthroscopic procedures include:
- Inflammation, including in the lining of the synovium (the smooth lining of the joint) in the knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist or ankle
- Injuries, including:
- Rotator cuff tendon tears
- Impingement syndrome (a common shoulder condition)
- Recurrent dislocations in the shoulder
- Meniscal (cartilage) tears
- Chondromalacia (wearing or injury of the cartilage cushion)
- Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears with instability in the knee
- Carpal tunnel syndrome in the wrist
- Pieces of loose bone and/or cartilage, particularly in the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle or wrist
