What is Chemotherapy Treatment for Brain Tumors?

Chemotherapy uses anticancer drugs to treat cancerous (malignant) brain tumors. Chemotherapy works to stop tumor growth and spread in two ways:

  • Preventing cancer cells from reproducing (cytostatic chemotherapy drugs)
  • Artificially starting the normal process of cell death (cytotoxic chemotherapy drugs)
