Hepatitis C Treatment at Stanford

Stanford Health Care offers innovative hepatitis C treatments, including newly approved medications that halt progressive liver damage. These medications are helping people who have been under care for decades recover after just 12 weeks.

Stanford Health Care is among the most successful programs in the San Francisco Bay Area when it comes to helping those with hepatitis C access the treatments they need. For most people, this includes personalized combinations of the most promising new medications.

These new medications—a type of direct acting antiviral agents—prevent the hepatitis C virus (HCV) from replicating and allow your immune system to kill the virus. Direct acting antiviral agents are extremely effective in patients who take them. However, at $1,000 per pill, they are not covered by insurance.

Part of what makes our program special is that we have a team of staff experienced in working with various payers and specialty pharmacies to make the best treatments available to our patients quickly. In the past two years, the team has processed more than 1,200 prescriptions for HCV therapy. This makes Stanford one of the leading HCV treatment centers in the United States.
