About this Treatment: Surgery for Meningioma
About Surgery for Meningioma
Meningioma treatment may start with surgery to safely remove as much of the tumor as possible. Surgical goals include confirming the diagnosis, treating the tumor, and relieving symptoms that affect your quality of life.
Some meningiomas are small, easy to separate from surrounding healthy brain tissue, and are in accessible locations. In these situations, complete surgical removal is often possible. Other tumors are in areas that are difficult to access surgically or located near sensitive areas in the brain. In these cases, surgery is more challenging, and doctors only remove as much of the tumor as is safe.
What to Expect
As you and your family prepare for your care at Stanford, you’ll likely have many questions. We are here to help you in any way we can and to partner with you before, during and after treatment.
