Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication
What Is Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication?
Transoral incisionless fundoplication is a procedure to reconstruct your body’s natural antireflux barrier (lower esophageal sphincter) without incisions or visible scars. We perform this procedure through your mouth, using special tools (endoscopes) and the Esophyx® device.
The Esophyx® device looks like a fishing pole and works by grabbing the upper portion of your stomach (fundus) from the inside and folding it over. This creates a collar that acts as a tight seal between your stomach and esophagus (fundoplication).
Conventional GERD treatments typically include reflux medication for the rest of your life. In addition to long-term side effects, such as osteoporosis, these medications lose effectiveness over time. By reconstructing your body’s natural reflux barrier, transoral incisionless fundoplication fixes the underlying cause of your GERD so you no longer need medication.
Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication
We offer advanced therapies for GERD, including incisionless esophagus reconstruction, a safe alternative to life-long medication therapy.
