Stanford Hospital Once Again Named to U.S. News & World Report’s Annual Honor Roll
July 30, 2019
One of only 21 hospitals in the nation to earn top honors for exceptional performance in specialized, complex patient care
STANFORD, CALIF. – Stanford Health Care's renowned Stanford Hospital has again been recognized as one of the nation's premier hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, earning a spot on its national Honor Roll. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals Honor Roll recognizes institutions that excel in treating patients with the most challenging, highly-complex medical needs.
“At Stanford, we strive to provide our patients with the highest quality care,” said David Entwistle, president and CEO of Stanford Health Care. “To be ranked, yet again, by U.S. News & World Report as a top hospital is both an honor and a validation of our employees’ tireless efforts. I applaud our physicians, nurses, care teams, and staff, who every day work to continuously improve the care that our patients receive, never settling for anything less than the best.”
As in previous years, U.S. News & World Report gathered and analyzed data for more than 4,500 medical centers. Stanford Hospital was ranked in 10 medical specialties for 2019-20: cancer; cardiology & heart surgery; ear, nose & throat; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; neurology & neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology & lung surgery; and urology.
“I am proud of our staff for their leadership, innovation, and collaboration in enhancing the patient care that we deliver,” said Lloyd Minor, M.D., Dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine. “It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated and talented professionals, whose many contributions in research, education, and patient care reinforce our reputation as a preeminent leader in academic medicine.”
The U.S. News Best Hospitals survey separately ranks America's top children’s hospitals. Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford achieved rankings in all ten pediatric specialties for 2019-20. For the 15th consecutive year, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford has been ranked as a top pediatric hospital in the nation by U.S. News in June.
